Periodontology — care for the gums and supporting tissues around your teeth

Periodontology focuses on the treatment of the supporting tissues around the teeth: the gums, the bone and the tooth root. Healthy gums are essential to keep your teeth strong and healthy well into later life.

Do you suffer from bleeding gums, bad breath, exposed tooth necks or teeth that seem to be becoming loose? A periodontal examination may then be recommended. During your six-monthly or annual check-up, we always screen the periodontal condition of your teeth. If necessary, we are happy to refer you to a periodontist with whom we collaborate.

What is periodontitis?

An inflammation of the gums and supporting tissues which, if left untreated, can lead to bone loss and loose teeth.

Typical signs

Bleeding gums, bad breath, receding gums, sensitivity or teeth that feel loose.

Screening at check-ups

During routine check-ups, we always assess your periodontal health and discuss any points of attention.

Referral & treatment

If necessary, we refer you to a periodontist. Periodontal treatments are carried out following referral by your general dentist.

Reimbursement

Periodontal treatments are partially reimbursed by the health insurance fund. Please contact your insurance provider for specific conditions.

Goal: preserving your teeth
