Brushing with brackets on your teeth may seem more difficult, but it is perfectly possible — even with an electric toothbrush. The most important thing is to brush thoroughly and take enough time.
Proper brushing prevents plaque from building up. This helps avoid white spots and cavities during your orthodontic treatment.
Place the brush above the bracket and brush at a 45° angle towards the gum line.
Then brush below the bracket again at a 45° angle towards the gum line.
Place the brush perpendicular to the brackets and brush using circular motions.
Carefully brush the inside surfaces of your teeth as well. These are often forgotten but just as important.
Plaque can remain under the wire. Make sure to clean under the wire carefully — this makes a big difference.
Use interdental brushes or superfloss to clean under the wire and between teeth and molars. Choose a brush that is not too small and not too large.
